I'll be using animation shop 3 only.

This is the smiley I'll show you how to make.

Open animation shop 3 and click on file then new.

Make your width and height both 15 and make sure the Canvas color is transparent.  Click OK.

Zoom in on you new frame by 5, this is just to be able to see what you are doing.

Select your dropper tool and over to the right on your color pallet select black.

Select your brush tool, make sure the width is 1.

Draw a smiley, example below.

It's 5 pixels on the top, sides and bottom.

Select your dropper tool again, and on the color pallet select whatever color you want your smiley to be.  I chose a dark pink.

Select your flood fill tool and click inside the outline of the smiley.

You should have something like this.

Select your dropper tool again and select the color black.

Select your brush tool and draw a face for your smiley.

This is how I drew mine.

Now, go back to file and select new, width and height 15 with Canvas Color transparent, just the same as before, click OK.

(if you still have your brush tool selected, you'll need to select the arrow now)

On your new frame, right click and select duplicate selected until you have 4 blank frames.

Zoom in on your new frames by 5 again so you can see what you are doing.

Right click on the smiley you just made and select copy.

On the first blank frame, right click and select Paste, into selected frame.

Do this for each frame until your frames look like this.

View your animation, you should now have

Go to file and save as and name your smiley.
