//Whatever where they thinking!\\
You know when you are laying in bed waiting for sleep to come and you start thinking about stuff. Well I started thinking about what all my parents would let us do as kids that I'd never let my kids do.
My parents let us walk to school when I was only 7 years old, we had to cross a very busy street to get there. At the same time on the local news, they were talking about people stopping little kids and asking them if they wanted "candy". We were stopped several times and asked if we wanted candy! We told our parents about it, they said just say "NO" but we were still aloud to walk to school LOL. OMG!
We used to ride in the back of my dads truck, but only on the country roads LOL, going around 60 mph, not in the bed of the truck but on the side of it! We would look over the side and watch the pavement move quickly under us.
We used to fight over who would ride in the very back of the car, the part where the back window came down to meet the trunk, there's a little space there that would fit a child perfectly. No seatbelts LOL!
Once, on vacation, when I was just 3 years old, we stopped in Colorado Springs, CO and the motel had a playground in the back. So my brother and I begged to go down to play. They let us go, because my brother would be there watching me, (he was only 5 LOL) but after a while he got tired of being there and decided to go back to the room. He ran off and I couldn't catch him. So I started knocking on all the motel room doors. I was like "is my mommy in there" and they where like no, you got the wrong room, so I kept knocking. The last room I knocked on, a naked man answered the door and that scared me! So I decided not to knock on anymore doors. I just sat down in the hall and started crying. Finally, after next to forever, my mom realized I wasn't in the room and came looking for me.
The big thing to do when I was a kid was to ride our bikes in the woods. I remember crying because my brother got to go and I didn't! The reason my mom gave me was because he was 5 and I was only 3 and I wasn't big enough yet. Well after enough crying she let me go! I was only 3 years old! The "woods" were about 5 blocks away LOL. We'd stay gone till dark, we wouldn't even have to check in during the day. We have woods right across the street from us now and my kids aren't even aloud to go in them LOL.
Where things really so much more innocent then or where people just that much more ignorant?
